Carolyn Law thinks the intersection of the artists, communities and built and natural environments is a powerful force. She has been working as a professional studio and public artist for over 25 years. Her public art experience encompasses a wide range of commissioned art projects and art plans. The public art projects range widely from design team projects with designers, engineers, and/or landscape architects and considerable interface with communities and governmental agencies to site-specific integrated artworks and temporary installations. Over the years she has developed different types of art plans ranging from plans that deal with a single site such as a city hall or for artworks to be placed throughout a city over a period of years Her studio work involves mixed media drawings and temporary sculptural installations. Recently she has also been curating exhibitions of temporary sited works. She has been actively involved in civic affairs concerning the built environment and public spaces.
Ellen Sollod often addresses environmental and social concerns through her public art and studio practice. As an artist working in the public realm, she conceptualizes urban spaces as places for people.  Her work speaks to the identity of place and creates intimacy even when the scale is large. She is interested in creating a balance between broad concepts and the particular–through art that brings excitement to the urban environment while revealing little known facts or the hidden histories, creating layers of meaning. The work takes many forms of expression and materials–depending upon the site and issue at hand. She has been practicing the art of making places public for over 15 years.
